Age Gap
"You get in my car, pay me—that's all."
At two in the morning, wipers swept across the windshield, carving out a fan-shaped halo. Lina climbed into the sleek black ride-share, clutching her soaked skirt. In the rearview mirror, the driver’s sharp profile loomed—his fingers pinched a cigarette unlit.
She gave an address, voice still trembling—just escaped from a drunken party, heels broken, champagne stains hardened like frost over her chest.
"Not on my way," he said suddenly, voice low as if rising from beneath the earth. "But I can take you."
She froze. "Why?"
"Because," he turned, streetlight gliding over his eyes, "who cares about age?"
Three days later, the internet exploded with a leaked video: top celebrity Aiden Cross, bare-chested, stepping out of a private apartment, a familiar pearl-strapped dress slung over his waist.
On the other side of the screen, 40-year-old Lina Hall screamed at her TV: "That's impossible! That was me last night—"
Before she could finish, her daughter Brennan shattered her coffee cup.
"Mom!" The girl pointed at her phone’s trending page, face flushed red. "That’s Aiden! America’s sweetheart! You slept with a national icon?!"
The door crashed open.
Her ex-husband stormed in, briefcase in hand, yanking her up by the arm. "Are you insane? Sleeping with a minor?!"
"He’s forty! At least!" Lina shrieked.
"He’s twenty!" Brennan sobbed. "He won the Teen Choice Award last year!"
Sirens wailed closer.
Outside the police station, Aiden leaned against the wall, smoking. Reporters swarmed, demanding answers. He exhaled slowly, then said:
"Is love a crime? Or—" he lifted his gaze straight into the camera— "are you just jealous that an older woman can make me come?"
The internet erupted.
#LinaIsAHomewrecker #AidenWasGroomed #MotherAndDaughterSharingOneMan rocketed to the top.
No one noticed the faded photo buried deep in Aiden’s phone gallery: two decades ago, a young woman holding a baby stood outside an orphanage, a sign behind her reading: **Lina Hall, Donor**.
That child was him.
That night, Lina dug out her old diary, trembling as she read the final line:
"The day I gave my son away for adoption, the driver said something to me—
'Who cares about age?'"
Lightning split the sky.
At last, she saw it—the silver chain around young Aiden’s neck in the photo on her nightstand… the very one she had left behind.
That night wasn’t a chance meeting.
He had come back.
